Knowledge of the VENCER system and reporting factors by the nursing professional

The VENCER system is a mechanism used by nurses in order to detect and track adverse events, such as centinela and cuasifalla events, the identification and prevention of risks as well as the implementation of improvement strategies. Objective: Evaluate the level of knowledge about the VENCER system and issues that contribute to the lack of notification by the nursing professionals. Material and methods: It is a descriptive transversal study, with non-probabilistic sampling by convenience, 56 nursing professionals were studied through a 26 items instrument validated by the Cronbach Alfa with a reliability of 0.83. Descriptive statistics were used. Results: The level of knowledge about the VENCER system by the professionals that took the survey showed that 50% of them are regular, followed by a bad level of knowledgde of 32% and ultimately, a good level of knowledge with 18%. Conclusions: It’s essential for the nursing professional to realize the importance of continuous training about the VENCER system, since it showed that there is a regular level of knowledge, it’s considered necessary to elevate that level in order to ensure a better nursing practice and provide a holistic and risk-free care to the user requiring those health services.
