Nursing Care Process in an Adolescent with Seizure

Abstract

Introduction: Seizures occur due to an excessive electrical discharge in the brain in a group of neurons, which can originate in various areas of the brain, seizures can vary from brief episodes of absence or muscle contractions, these prolonged seizures are known as status epilepticus. Objective: to develop a nursing care process based on the Callista Roy Adaptation Model to promote the adaptation of an adolescent with seizure onset. Material and method: The research design is descriptive, quasi-experimental without a control group, cross-sectional, the writing of the diagnoses was done with the NANDA taxonomy, the care plans with NOC and NIC. Results: An improvement in the need for nutrition was obtained, the patient was able to ingest most of her prescribed diet and therefore obtain the proper energy and hydration, in the physical self-concept mode, with the help of the interventions carried out during the care, the patient was observed calm, safe and without fear. Conclusion: The nursing care process, guided by Roy's model, is a fundamental tool since it allows for a holistic evaluation of the individual, the correct identification of nursing diagnoses, and the planning of timely interventions based on the stimuli present, thus offering individualized care that improves the level of adaptation.
