Introduction. Hip fracture is considered the most serious complication in terms of morbidity and mortality and economic burden in the elderly population. In addition, this type of fracture increases the likelihood of significant adverse effects during hospitalization, often resulting in prolonged hospital stays and increased risk of mortality. Objective. To develop a comprehensive nursing care plan for an older adult with a percatrochanteric fracture, focused on comprehensive care to promote rehabilitation and improve quality of life. Methodology. A nursing care process was carried out in the joint reconstruction area of a tertiary hospital in Mexico City, Mexico. For this purpose, an assessment based on Elizabeth Lenz's unpleasant symptom theory and a comprehensive geriatric evaluation was used, obtaining information from the electronic clinical record. The nursing process was applied to the three priority diagnoses according to the NANDA, NIC and NOC taxonomies. Results. The integration of a comprehensive geriatric assessment together with a patient-centered nursing model ensures a holistic and comprehensive approach for both the elderly person and his or her family. Conclusion. During hospitalization, the patient had a slow but progressive recovery, thanks to the precise interventions of the multidisciplinary team the appropriate approach was provided, and she can carry her rehabilitation at home.
