Abstract

Objective: analyze food health from the socio-territorial components of access to food in some of the most vulnerable localities in the state. Food insecurity is an issue that expresses with a bigger intensity in rural areas. In addition, obesity combined with poverty is often aligned with food insecurity, so that the social determinants of health increase the risk for certain population. Unlike statistical studies, the bioanthropological approach offers a less linear and more complex analysis of health issues. This paper approaches a social health problem, both on its biological, territorial, and cultural conditions. Material and methods: A cross study on obesity data food insecurity experience is established. From a comparison of six rural localities and three municipalities in the state of Guanajuato, the result point to the space determinants of the territory to understand food supply and food consumption. Results and Conclusions: both location and transport, play a fundamental role in understanding food systems and social health.
